Climate Pledge Arena is the complete redevelopment of an historic landmark, originally built for the 1962 Seattle World’s Fair. Sitting at the base of the Space Needle on the Seattle Center campus, the arena is home to the NHLs Seattle Kraken, WNBA’s Seattle Storm, and the world’s biggest performers of live music and events. Since opening in October 2021, we have hosted over 400 public events and welcomed over 4 million guests. The arena has been awarded Sports Business Journals Sports Facility of the Year and Pollstars best new concert venue and is consistently ranked within Pollstars top 10 for top grossing arenas worldwide.

Seattle Arena Company, a division of Oak View Group (OVG), privately developed and now operates Climate Pledge Arena. OVG based in Denver, Colorado is a global leader in facility development, management, hospitality, and sales. Overseeing hundreds of venues across the globe including: UBS Arena in Belmont Park, NY, Moody Center in Austin, TX, Acrisure Arena in Greater Palm Springs, CA, Co-op Live in Manchester, UK, OVG is a positive disruption in the sports, live entertainment and hospitality industry.

Climate Pledge Arena is named after The Climate Pledge, an initiative founded by Amazon and Global Optimism asking global corporations to become net zero carbon by 2040. We have one of the most progressive sustainability programs of any arena our size, including being the first and only arena in the world to achieve the International Future Living Institutes first Zero Carbon Certification.

Position Summary

The Audio-Visual Engineer plays a key role in supporting and implementing AV technology, systems and processes that support the production environment at Climate Pledge Arena. In this role, you will provide supervision, engineering and support for all presentation video, audio, digital media assets, IPTV and LED display technology during event and non-event times including not limiting arena tour support. This role plays a large part in ensuring the Climate Pledge Arenas tour program is going well as the lead for AV representative.

This is a full-time position and is based in Seattle, WA

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide operational expertise for all video, audio, lighting and production systems and equipment used for venue and event presentation including, but not limited to, Control Room, Audio, Video, LED and IPTV systems, content creation, programming, with emphasis on arena tours
  • Assist in the creation of operating procedures for all building AV, presentation broadcast technical services, and digital media assets; ensure all content is effectively delivered to all playback and show control systems
  • Work closely with CPA arena tour management and supervisors to support av systems with tour locations
  • Provide operational support of all activities related to operating, maintaining, and programming the video systems within the arena, plaza, and other connected properties
  • Support the technical game-day operators/freelancers to operate and work all Climate Pledge Arena events
  • Assist in the development of effective strategies for meeting internal and external client needs through creative deployment of building technology
  • Ensure all equipment is ready and faxed out before doors for the day/evening event(s).
  • Work closely with IPTV, Broadcast, IT, AV, Operations, and other groups across to resolve problems and assist in their areas of need
  • Repair BNC, XLR, Triax, and SMPTE fiber cables as needed
  • Create and maintain a repair log of AV equipment

Required Skills & Experience

  • 3+ years of experience in an engineering capacity in venue presentation and/or Live Event/TV production
  • Detailed knowledge of video and scoreboard production in a sports and entertainment facility
  • Strong knowledge of production workflow, HD/UHD/HDR/4K production, IP workflow, QC procedures, signal flow, Audio and MAM systems
  • Specific and intimate knowledge of AV production systems – Ross Expression, Daktronics, Evertz Routers, Magnum control and DreamCatcher replay systems (among other industry leading A/V technologies), camera, shading and PTZ systems, non-linear editing, audio, video, and lighting control and distribution systems, familiarity with Crestron control systems a plus
  • Previous experience integrating, implementing, or refreshing an arena/venue broadcast control room equipment, including familiarity with modern broadcast cabling infrastructure used in broadcast environments
  • Exemplary communication skills and professionalism to deal effectively with all business contacts, vendors, and clients
  • Knowledge and previous experience working with the NHL, WNBA, and concert/family/event show promoters preferred
  • Available to work non-conventional shifts and hours, including nights, weekends, and holidays
  • Must be adaptable with the ability to work under pressure to meet deadlines in a fast-paced live environment serving more 5 million annual visitors.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, with an expert ability to present and communicate new ideas and concepts, describe and document issues as well as their solutions.
  • Extremely organized and detail oriented, resourceful, quick learner and able to handle multiple projects simultaneously in a high-pressure environment.
  • A high degree of personal integrity and consistently put the interests of the organization
  • Must be a fierce communicator and cross-organizational
  • Ability to terminate AV cables (i.e., Cat 6, BNC, Fiber, XLR, Triax, etc.)

Working Conditions:

  • Minimal Travel (<10% travel): May be required to Trips may require air travel and/or overnight stay away from home for one or more nights.
  • Must be able to work a flexible schedule inclusive of weekends, nights and holidays
  • Frequent bending, lifting 20-40 pounds, sitting, exposure to multiple external elements, and extensive walking through the building including inclines and

Compensation:

  • In accordance with the Washington State Equal Pay and Opportunity Act, the expected base pay range for this position is $75,000.00 $95,000.00 annually. Actual base pay will depend on employees experience and other job-related factors permitted by law.
  • This is an exempt role
