An exciting opportunity for an Controls Engineer to join a Battery Technology start-up, based in the Bay Area! They are already causing disruption in the Battery Tech world by repurposing retired electric vehicle batteries for energy storage purposes! They are searching for a Controls Engineer who is ready to dive into the start-up world and work on their exciting product! Think this could be you?

⚡ Requirements:

• BS/MS degree in Electrical Engineering, Power Electronics or equivalent
• Experience with batteries of battery management systems (BMS) is a plus but not essential
• Architecting, designing, and implementing firmware validation procedures, equipment, and automation regarding high voltage systems.
• Extensive knowledge of high voltage systems
• A strong understanding and experience of working with and modeling Lithium-Ion cells, modules, packs.
• Prior experience in energy storage, which could include: fuel cells, batteries, EV’s
• Capable of analyzing algorithm performance in MATLAB/Simulink
• Understanding of diagnostic techniques for cells and battery pack components

⚡ Responsibilities:

• Design, implement and test ground breaking algorithms for run-time BMS logic to derive State-of-Charge, State-of-Health, State-of-Power and State-of-Energy computations.
• Develop and enhance existing battery models to ensure Real vs Simulation accuracy.
• Develop and integrate software using Matlab/Simulink.
• Develop BMS software control modules behavior and interfaces.
• Synthesize outputs from battery test data and models to implement algorithms for system performance and lifetime.
• Collaborate with hardware engineers to define the BMS architecture
