Summary:

The Director Field Services Operations manages the maintenance services for Powin Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) across North America. The position leads a team of Field Service Advisors in all aspects of service interventions, planned and unplanned service activities of our operational plants. The Director creates strategies for specific Field Service functions and develops budgets, policies, and procedures to support delivery of effective Field Service to Powin customers. In addition, this role will lead a dedicated team for customer training, Field Service tech training and ASPs training including defining standards and maintaining qualification records.

Job Details:

  • Manages and directs a team of Field Service Advisors providing guidance, support, and technical expertise for service work on BESS plants
  • Creates functional strategies for specific functions and develops budgets/policies/procedures to support delivery of field service needs
  • Determines capacity and staffing needs for assigned Field Service Projects and regularly reviews / modifies to suit business needs
  • Sets compelling vision for field service team delivering highest in class field service
  • Collaborate with EHS and conduct Safety management of all Field Service personnel; ensuring adherence to all safety and compliance business process
  • Collaborates and works with Commissioning and Installation departments to ensure optimum deployments of technical resources when needed
  • Address internal, vendor and customer issues that affect service project delivery; escalates as necessary
  • Reviews and acts as subject matter expert on specialist work requiring new procedures and processes; leads field team in specialist response. Specifically develops the “How” function for field service processes
  • Operates data management collation through selected work order management system. Ensures data integrity, develops KPI reporting from such data to deliver more effective process, approaches, and innovative solutions to service delivery
  • Leads team for customer training, Field Service tech training and Authrised Service Provides (ASP). Defines standards and maintains qualifications
  • Provides Global governance for all Field Service operations including supporting Regional Field Service entities according to product regionalization needs
  • Ensures project department milestone/ budgets are developed and managed to agreed upon plan. Conducts annual reviews for AOP development
  • General director management duties of other managers including development training and coaching
  • Ensures fulfillment of all reporting obligations for completion of Service; documentation and data collection from Powin and ASP network.
  • Assess team skills and assigns training to ensure necessary skills are developed for latest technology and current training are maintained meeting all standards and regulations
  • Leads development of standards, processes and tools to effectively delivery field service and technical support
  • Ensures that a high standard of professional customer contact is achieved with measurement of performance by KPI including establishing targets and improvement ramp rates
  • Serves as escalation point for Customer interactions, appropriate internal escalation, and notifications in the field service domain
  • Performs other duties as assigned

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, or equivalent experience in power production industry such as renewable energy industry
  • 8+ years’ experience in energy storage, distributed generation, data center equipment, or large-scale electrical equipment
  • 5+ years of progressive managerial experience
  • Ability to read electrical and/or mechanical drawings, specifications, understand terms and conditions of project contracts, subcontracts, and purchase orders
  • Familiar with electrical test equipment, multimeters, oscilloscopes, and insulation resistance testers
  • Ability to coordinate the efforts of remote diverse internal teams to identify and resolve project nonconformances
  • Demonstrated ability to build partnerships and work collaboratively with customers, members of project teams, contractors, and subcontractors
  • Proficient in project management/planning, and experience creating/maintaining project schedules
  • Strong Environmental, Health and Safety knowledge
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office with MS Office (including Word, Excel, Outlook, Project, PowerPoint), Jira, Confluence, and other collaboration and project management tools. SuitePMP knowledge is a plus
  • Excellent verbal and written communication, time management, and organizational skills
  • Ability to travel up to 25% to job sites. Some international travel
  • Ability to spend up to 2 weeks at a time at a job site or as needed
