Summary:

The Field Service Technical Advisor will be responsible for providing expert guidance and coordination of Powin’s Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS) equipment and systems. This position will work on-site with Powin’s customers and Authorized Service Provides (ASPs) by leading, addressing, and ensuring resolution of all work order (WO) activities.

Job Details:

  • Coordinate activities with Powin customer, third-party vendors, and internal workgroups to ensure safety while troubleshooting, conducting inspections, and resolving activities assigned to work orders
  • Support the execution of preventive and corrective maintenance field work
  • Provide on-site leadership and support for ASPs
  • On-site customer focused representative; answering technical questions pertaining Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) and all field work
  • Lead daily on-site job safety analysis (JSA) tailgate meeting as per JSA/WO scope
  • Accurately register and code all work performed on-site, including all associated parts consumption and troubleshooting analysis, into Powin field service database as per JSA/WO or any other requested and assigned field work
  • Complete and submit all required documentation and reporting, including daily reports, checklist, field reports, scheduled service reports, and quality issue reporting
  • Work directly with HVAC, Fire Suppression System (FSS), Power Conversion System (PCS) and other OEM equipment certified technicians
  • Ensure Powin’s quality standards are met
  • Interface with back-office engineering as required
  • Assist with spare parts inventory management and logistics
  • Complete (RMA) Return Material Authorization, as required, as per RMA published processes
  • Support the development and revision of all service documentation
  • Lead field-level emergency response teams, as per Powin emergency response procedures, including the active feedback to all JSA creation
  • May provide Level 3 training for both Powin employees and ASP teams as a train-the-trainer program
  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Certified Electrician, or equivalent electrical experience. Renewable energy industry experience (wind turbine, solar, battery energy storage or equivalent electrical power) preferred
  • Ability to use electrical test equipment such as digital multimeter, meggers, and multi-process calibration equipment
  • Working knowledge and experience operating under OSHA, NFPA 70E, and 70B
  • Ability to read electrical and/or mechanical drawings and specifications and understand terms and conditions of project/site LTSA and Warranty contracts
  • Strong computer skills with MS Office software (including Word, Excel, Outlook, Project, Power Point), Jira, Confluence, and other collaboration and project management tools
  • Agility with learning new software; Linux and Putty experience a plus
  • Demonstrated ability to build positive partnerships and work collaboratively with customers, members of a project team, contractors, and subcontractors
  • Excellent verbal and written communication, time management, and organizational skills
  • Experience in working with voltages exceeding 1000VDC and working with PPE rated to CAT4
  • Knowledge and experience with SCADA protocols (i.e., DNP3 and Modbus)
  • Working knowledge of Windows operating systems, SEL PLCs, Relays and meters, SCADA, Ethernet switches, media converters (fiber and serial) and digital Input/output devices is a plus
  • Demonstrated experience in customer-focused problem solving
  • Ability to assist in periodic on-call technical support
  • Excellent communication and documentation skills
  • This is a traveling position working from customer locations. May require ability to travel up to 4 weeks in duration

  • Must use hands and fingers to feel; reach with hands and arms; speak; hear, and be exposed to high and low temperatures
  • Ability to monitor and manage work in variable weather conditions
