Expected salary range of $144,000 to $160,000, varies based on experience, along with comprehensive benefits package that includes bonus and 401(k).

 

PRIMARY PURPOSE OF POSITION

The Principal Market Planning Analyst will be responsible for understanding energy market conditions, tracking and evaluating programs and regulations, and developing insightful forecasts of the impacts of key trends. The role will also include a focus on one or more regional power markets as well as working with various groups in Constellation to evaluate the effects of energy demand, commodity prices, current and proposed environmental regulations, renewable energy and emerging technologies, and conventional capacity additions and retirements on U.S. energy markets. The objective of the role is to prepare Constellation to compete in a rapidly changing business environment. Primary duties and responsibilities -Identifying market drivers and ensuring these are incorporated into short-term and long-term forecasts -Coordinating views of market developments with key stakeholders throughout Constellation -Communicating emerging market dynamics to a wider commercial audience -Aligning research and analysis with Constellation’s commercial focus -Working closely with other members of the Fundamental, Quantitative Analysis, Pricing, Traders and Risk, and Constellation Technology Ventures teams to ensure consistent and coordinated analysis.

 

PRIMARY DUTIES AND ACCOUNTABILITIES

  • Model short-term and long-term market trends.
  • Run off the shelf and proprietary analytic models and customize where needed.
  • Understand key market drivers and their impact on our business.
  • Research and access data on a variety of public sources and databases.
  • Develop and run econometric models for economy, load and fuels i.e. gas storage, regional power load, GDP, industrial demand etc.
  • Evaluate modeling results and communicate results in a concise, lucid fashion.
  • Work in a team setting on projects that develop analytics.
  • Present findings to management, communicate to various parties both internally and externally. The analyst will also have other research responsibilities as required and may be asked to participate in other Fundamental and Technical Analysis projects. The ability to work on ad-hoc, time sensitive projects is a priority.

 

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • Undergraduate degree in business, engineering, economics, the sciences, or other research discipline required.
  • Strong Excel, VBA, SQL skills along with programing skills such as Python or Matlab.  
  • 7-10 years of experience evaluating and modeling the impacts of energy fuel markets.
  • Self-motivated and able to work individually with little supervision and as part of a larger group.
