Job Title: Product Owner, AgencyRoot
Reports To: Director Product Management, AgencyRoot
FLSA Status: Full Time, Exempt
Location: US, Remote

Position Summary

The Product Owner defines new product features, creates mockups, crafts user stories, outlines acceptance criteria, and documents business/functional requirements. This role diligently manages and prioritizes the product backlog, seeking input from customers to enhance our solutions. Additionally, the Product Owner collaboration with internal teams, particularly software and architecture, is crucial, as they will work together to refine acceptance criteria, refine scope, and guarantee that our solutions consistently deliver the intended business value. This role demands genuine ownership and commitment to assigned products and technology-based solutions.

Key Responsibilities

  • Prioritize features in the backlog based on commitments, customer requirements, and product vision.
  • Design backlog features with input from customers, product team, and architecture/development resources.
  • Create user stories and logical acceptance criteria for backlog features and stories.
  • Create and/or assist in the creation of mockups.
  • Refine and estimate backlog features and stories with the development team.
  • Present internal and external demos of newly delivered features.
  • Create release notes and learning guides for new features and/or enhancements.
  • Create and/or update user guide content.
  • Assist with customer support.
  • Serve as the product expert and stay current with the features and capabilities of the assigned product(s).
  • Advocate for the customer.
  • Work with Product Management to prioritize, estimate, and allocate product workload.
  • Work closely with development to execute priorities and ensure the end result meets the
customers needs, delivers value, and aligns with the Product Vision.
  • Execute manual testing to verify acceptance criteria have been met and assist with user acceptance testing.
  • Document, prioritize, and retest bugs.
Other special projects consistent with skill set.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience and training.
  • 5+ years of experience as a Product Owner or Business Analyst for software development teams.
  • Experience in the Crop Insurance Industry required.
  • Experience with standard Microsoft products (Outlook, Word, Excel) required.
  • Experience with Atlassian products (Confluence, Jira) preferred.

  • Language Skills: Ability to read, analyze, and interpret program handbooks, actuarial documents, provisions, regulatory documents, calculation rules, and data specifications; Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from customers, regulatory agencies, or members of the business community.
  • Quality/Excellence: Attentive to detail and accuracy; Ability to look for improvements in established processes, procedures, or systems and clearly articulate ideas to customers, peers, or management; Ability to accurately prepare written correspondence/documentation that is coherent, grammatically correct, effective, and professional.
  • Teamwork: Helps project teams to meet goals, accepts input, and promotes a team atmosphere.
