Climate Pledge Arena is named after The Climate Pledge, an initiative founded by Amazon and Global Optimism asking global corporations to become net zero carbon by 2040. We have one of the most progressive sustainability programs of any arena our size, including being the first and only arena in the world to achieve the International Future Living Institutes first Zero Carbon Certification.
Position Summary:
We are currently seeking a Senior Accountant that is proactive, driven and collaborative. This person will report directly to the Controller and will be responsible for, but not limited to the following:
Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
- Responsible for ensuring accurate accounting of key financial statement categories, including: cash, accounts receivable, prepaid expense, fixed assets, accounts payable, accrued expense, deferred revenue, revenue, equity, related party activity, and other various financial transactions for multiple business entities.
- Prepare and record journal entries using adequate supporting documentation. Reconcile balance sheet accounts as part of month end close cycle.
- Assist in preparation and distribution of reports, such as monthly consolidated financial statements and quarterly compliance certificates for lenders.
- Review and document contractual terms and application of accounting guidelines.
- Perform monthly/quarterly balance sheet and income statement fluctuation analyses and provide explanation on variances.
- Drive process improvement and contribute to exciting projects that achieve scalability and efficiency.
- Prepare monthly State and Local tax filings.
- Partner with Controller and SVP of Finance to ensure all financial provisions of the lease are met.
- Complete other special projects as requested by leadership.
Required Experience & Qualifications:
- Public Accounting experience/US technical accounting experience preferred.
- 3 + years of accounting experience
- Strong G/L analysis and understanding of GAAP accounting principles required.
- Bachelor’s Degree related to accounting or finance and CPA (preferred).
- Strong Microsoft Excel skills (V-lookups, Sum-ifs, Pivot Tables, etc.).
- Experience with NetSuite a plus, but not required.
- Must be a self-starter and be able to work independently while contributing to overall department objectives.
- Highly motivated, with strong work ethic.
- Must be a fierce communicator, with an expert ability to present and communicate new ideas and concepts.
- Extremely organized and detail oriented, resourceful, quick learner and able to handle multiple projects simultaneously with the ability to reprioritize and shift quickly.
- A high degree of personal integrity and consistently put the interests of the organization first.
- Must be a cross-organizational collaborator.
- Ability to work flexible hours required.
- Must be adaptable with the ability to work under pressure to meet deadlines.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills, with an expert ability to present and communicate new ideas and concepts.
Working Conditions:
- Minimal Travel (<10% travel): May be required to travel. Trips may require air travel and/or overnight stay away from home for one or more nights.
- Must be able to work a flexible schedule inclusive of weekends, nights and holidays required
- Frequent bending, lifting 15-20 pounds, sitting, exposure to multiple external elements, extensive walking through the building including inclines and stairs.
Compensation:
- In accordance with the Washington State Equal Pay and Opportunity Act, the expected base pay range for this position is $79,000-$105,000 annually. Actual base pay will depend on employees experience and other job-related factors permitted by law.
- This role is classified as exempt.
