Position Specific Description

This fast-paced role spearheads the critical receipt of billings and proceeds from oil and gas operations and production by determining ownership through extensive analysis of various agreements and title documents.

General Description

Review Oil & Gas payments and contracts and enter data into the Land system. Responsible for the preparation of reports to accurately run a daily payment proposal using appropriate payment methods for vendors. This role requires specialized knowledge in mineral management and land management including experience analyzing all types of title documents, oil and gas leases, land contracts, and division orders. This role also requires the ability to independently analyze documents and data as well as provide work oversight to other departments. Interacts with members of leadership; legal; accounting; and Lease Records. The role assures accurate analysis and interpretation of documents relating to mineral ownership, curative, and maintain documents regarding production and land ownership for royalty owners. The position is responsible for assuring and maintaining maintenance and reporting on the various Land Management Systems (i.e., SAP, BA Database, Excalibur, and CRM) in conformance with Company policies, governmental rules, and regulations, and proper management of Company assets.

Primary Job Functions

Ensure the completion of division order responsibilities for an assigned geographical area. Ability to accurately and timely establish, maintain, and protect legal ownership producing properties.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Proven experience in Division Orders: 5+ years
  • Provide oversight for the analysis of and interpretation of Division of Interest, advanced expert level knowledge of land concepts and division order responsibilities.
  • Establish and monitor compliance with Land Administration policies and procedures.
  • Ability to function independently and is self-motivated.

Job Duties & Responsibilities

  • Responsible for creating burdened division of interest (DOI) decks reflecting record title ownership of producing properties in a specific geographic area through detailed analysis of title opinions, leases, assignments, deeds, probates, farm-out agreements, operating agreements and other legal documents.
  • Determine ownership through laws of descent and distribution/intestate succession when appropriate.
  • Reviews new DOI setups and ownership transfers performed by junior division order analysts for accuracy.
  • Establishes and maintains joint interest billing decks.
  • Initiate pay code changes and ownership transfers of advanced complexity within Land system.
  • Works closely internally with all land disciplines, Revenue Accounting, JIB Accounting, Legal, Marketing, and Reserves
  • Strong people skills, enthusiastic, organized, pleasant, and team player.

Job Duties & Responsibilities

  • Determines working interests and burdens associated with interests based on title analysis of deeds, assignments, purchase and sale agreements, probate documents, leases and royalty agreements
  • Sets up new Joint Interest Billing (JIB) and revenue decks for processing
  • Updates and maintains accurate ownership records within the Excalibur Land System
  • Analyzes notification of changes to existing interests to determine how they could affect the title analysis and interests in company-operated wells
  • Responds professionally to interest owner inquiries by acting as a liaison with the interest owners, operators and other company departments
  • Takes appropriate action to cure company title defects requested by operators
  • Liaises with operations and monitors well reports to accurately update the well database
  • Reviews, processes and routes division orders for non-operated wells
  • Assists Landmen with divestiture and acquisition activities, including confirming company’s interests in existing properties, drafting and compiling schedules, etc.
  • Reviews and updates records based on acquisitions and divestitures
  • Assists internal personnel with various projects that arise from, or that involve, Division Order issues
  • Maintains database to keep records accurate and consistent
  • Performs other job-related duties as assigned

Required Qualifications

  • High School Grad / GED
  • Bachelor’s or Equivalent Experience
  • Experience: 2+ years

Preferred Qualifications

  • Juris Doctorate
