Responsibilities

  • Support the development, integration and testing of multiple sensor modalities used on the robot, including LIDAR, and stereo vision
  • Work with team members to determine placement and mounting for the sensors on the robot
  • Drive transition of sensor and compute stack from x86 to ARM (Jetson)
  • Analyze sensor failure modes and devise mitigations based on field data
  • Write software stack to decode the data and integrate into our software stack
  • Develop and document sensor interfaces for electrical, signal, and software interfaces

Requirements

  • BS/MS in electrical engineering, computer engineering, physics or equivalent
  • Familiarity with stereo camera, LiDARS and other range sensors, and their data processing and integration framework
  • Extensive knowledge of (3+ years of experience) designing and developing sensing solutions
  • In-depth knowledge of electrical and embedded system
  • Good programming skills in C/C++
  • Strong interest in robotics
  • Working knowledge of standard communication buses and protocols (e.g. UART, USB, I2C, SPI, CAN, etc.)

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with Linux and ROS
  • Hands-on embedded system prototyping experience (hardware and firmware)
  • Solid embedded hardware and software debugging skills. Familiar with test/debug tools such as JTAG, oscilloscopes, logic analyzers and signal generators
  • Previous work in the mobile robot or autonomous vehicles industry
