As a fast growing industry leader, this company is looking to transform grid infrastructure in the US to be far more resilient, versatile and cleaner for a sustainable future. They are developing standalone energy storage projects across the country in order to provide critical services to the wholesale electricity market.

Whoever fills this role will be reporting to and collaborating with the Director of Permitting. Leading all facets of permitting project developments from start to fully fledged commercial operation, the role will entail the managing of environmental permitting activities for various battery storage development projects.

Responsibilities

  • Creation & execution of permitting strategies in conjunction with the company’s Development Team, Director of Permitting and Environmental Manager
  • Managing permitting processes and land-use processes for projects across the US
  • Researching of regulations pertaining to prospective sites for development (federal, state, and local)
  • Due dilligence surrounding project designs and their compliance with regulations
  • Submittal of permit applications to government bodies
  • Liaising with external subject matter experts
  • Evaluation and revising of public hearing submissions
  • Converse and negotiate with regulatory bodies surrounding acceptable operating permit conditions to make sure they are consistent with costs, scheduling and sustainability objectives
  • Representing projects at stakeholder meetings
  • Assessment of policy implications to siting and permitting
  • Provide support to planning and scheduling of project development

Qualifications

  • 5 to 7 years of experience in obtaining approval of land use, siting, zoning, permitting, environmental submittals for large scale and complex development of real estate projects
  • Experience obtaining permits from companies in the utilities, telecommunications, or renewable energy industry
  • JD, ESQ, or Bachelor’s / Master’s degree in engineering, urban planning or environmental areas
  • Strong understanding and experience with permitting and regulatory statutes on a federal, state and local level
