JOB OVERVIEW/PURPOSE
Rabobank requires a Research Analyst who aspires to help guide North American and global Food & Beverage firms in continuing their journeys toward a more environmentally sustainable future. As a Food & Ag (F&A) Sustainability Analyst for the Consumer Foods & Beverages sector you are a member of the North American RaboResearch F&A team, with a focus on sustainability topics. Topics include, but are not limited to, climate change and the attainment of Scope 3 emissions targets, food waste, nutrition and biodiversity. As the majority of sustainability impacts of many food & beverage products originate upstream, you have in-depth expertise and understanding of the supply chains of food & beverage firms. You possess a keen understanding of the consumer packaged foods & beverages industries, the markets they serve, and have a broad public and private F&A network, especially regarding consumer foods & beverages in North America. This knowledge and network are your basis to assess the double materiality impacts of climate change and broader ESG issues on the economic and ecologic performance of consumer foods & beverages businesses/clients. It drives your eagerness to generate insights into the North American region specific Greenhouse Gas emissions reduction opportunities and how these are aligned with required decarbonization targets, including Rabobank’s own targets, governmental and corporate clients’ commitments, as well as with economic business models. Conversely, you can analyze which transition and physical risks are associated with consumer foods & beverages firms being impacted by climate change, and how these firms can mitigate these risks and adapt. As such you are a key liaison and sparring partner for other Consumer Foods & Beverages specialists within the RaboResearch team and for other departments of Rabobank, including Risk, Sustainability/Paris Alignment and commercial F&A banking. Together with them, you provide unique insights and proposals that feed strategic discussions and decision-making for clients as well as within Rabobank, up to Rabobank’s Managing Board.
RaboResearch is Rabobank’s knowledge center in Food & Agribusiness (F&A) and is staffed with analysts located around the globe. This position is part of the Americas regional team, reporting hierarchically to RaboResearch North America. On both national and regional levels, RaboResearch provides commercial support to rural and wholesale banking by preparing research reports, delivering presentations for clients, contributing to M&A pitches, and providing sector knowledge. RaboResearch profiles and positions the bank as the leading F&A knowledge bank through high quality research and presentations; supports risk management within the bank through critical analysis and effective communication; and builds and shares F&A knowledge within the Rabobank Group. North American-related activities account for a majority of the time allocation for this position, but it also supports all global Rabobank stakeholders.

Job Complexity
Generates ideas for research products, develops outlines and creates the medium to deliver the content. Handles very complex research for the Global F&A sectors. Performs custom research for internal top clients. Expert on one or more sectors, deep understanding of cross- sector and trans-regional linkages.
Proactively presents research reports and presentations for internal or external customers.
Capable of engaging with CEOs and Senior Executives and being able to have discussions on the company’s strategy.
Qualifications / Required Work Experience and Education
Bachelor’s Degree in Agricultural Economics, Environmental Economics, Agribusiness, Business, Economics, Finance, Supply Chain Management, Sustainability, or related field required with 5+ years of experience in a food or agribusiness sustainability related analytical or business development role with an agribusiness company, financial institution or industry association. Graduate degree in related discipline desirable.

Salary Expectations
Target Hiring Range:
$105,000 – $165,000
This position is subject to the terms of Rabobank’s compensation plans and policies. It is anticipated that the position will pay within the target hiring range. The range is reflective of the desired primary physical work location and may be adjusted outside of the projected range based on geographical differentiation if the actual work location of the hired candidate differs from the desired primary location, or for other lawful reasons. Further, the position includes all other benefits provided to Rabobank employees, including healthcare benefits, 401k matching, vacation, sick leave, parental leave, possible discretionary bonuses and all other benefits that are all governed by and subject to ERISA plan documents and eligibility.
