GPS Field Technician

The GPS Field Technician supports excavation and material placement by setting up and operating GPS and total station equipment. This includes site calibration, loading 3D models, verifying line and grade, and performing as-built surveys. The technician works with equipment operators and management to ensure all project specifications are met. The role involves outdoor work in various weather conditions around heavy machinery

Responsibilities

• Operate GPS receivers, subsurface line locators, Android mobile device and other field equipment.
• Collect and maintain accurate data for construction projects.
• Direct equipment operators to assist with the alignment, movement, or adjustment of machinery, equipment, or materials
• Keep visual and audible contact with crew and surroundings to ensure safe movement coordination
• Communicate with the project team to ensure all tasks have been completed and documented
• Perform construction tasks under Foreman/Superintendent such as digging, lifting, site cleanup, etc.
• Assist with pipe system assembly, underground utilities, concrete work, and site preparation
• Operate tools and equipment like power tools, rollers and skid loaders.
• Flag traffic and ensure site safety.
• Handle materials and assist with general site preparation.
• Perform additional duties as needed.

Qualifications

• Technical training in GPS/surveying preferred.
• Experience with GPS equipment in construction or surveying.
• Strong communication skills and attention to detail.
• Ability to perform physically demanding tasks and work outdoors in all weather conditions.

The compensation will vary based on experience ranging between $30-$40 an hour.
