Job Description

Commonwealth Power LLC, a solar construction company, is seeking an experienced commercial electrician installing rooftop solar systems for commercial and municipal clients in DC/NOVA/MD team. Applicants with a background in energy or electrical contracting are encouraged to apply. The electrician will work with our regional director, construction managers, and project managers to design, build, commission, and close out projects. The position will also require service calls, operation and maintenance duties, and conducting quality control inspections.

Desired Skill Set

  • Excellent pipe bender.
  • Ability to perform complex electrical installations in large construction environments.
  • A passion to learn the growing industry.
  • Experience conducting and communicating project takeaways, hazard analysis, after action reports, daily reports, tool box talks and strong project management communication skills.
  • Experience in electrical supervision and quality control. Ability to supervise, direct, and teach apprentices as needed.
  • Thorough understanding of CODE requirements and expert in means and methods of proper installation

  • Minimum of 2 years of experience as a commercial electrician.
  • Personal toolkit commensurate with the above experience.
  • Reliable transportation and a valid drivers license.
  • Verifiable and stable work history.
  • OSHA 10 or OSHA 30.
  • Ability to lift and carry up to 50lbs.
  • Ability and willingness to work on all types and levels of buildings (e.g., roofs, ladders, rough terrain, tight space and mechanical rooms).
  • Ability to work outside in all ranges of seasonal conditions (heat/cold).
  • Ability to bend, squat, kneel, stand, squeeze and spend 8 hours a day on your feet.
  • Ability to pass a background check.
  • Ability to follow and implement company driven safety protocol.
  • Ability to work under tight deadlines and scheduling demands.
  • Ability to provide right to work in the US documentation and pass drug/alcohol screenings.

Preferred:

  • Trained and certified to operate basic construction equipment.
  • Graduate of a recognized Electrical Program.
  • NABCEP certified.
  • Proficiency in Google Suite and ability to learn and use product software.

Typical day entails:

  • Working with RMC, RAC, EMT conduit. Sizes 1-4. Bending and Threading (mainly EMT).
  • Mounting AC Panels, Switches, Junction Boxes, Inverters, Troughs and Data/Coms Equipment.
  • Setting up and executing long wire pulls.
  • Receiving and cataloging material and preforming job site takeaways.
  • House Keeping.
  • Testing, commissioning and operational maintenance.

Schedule:

  • Monday to Friday
  • Overtime
  • Site location varies

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: From $26.00 per hour

Expected hours: 40 per week
