About the role

DNV Energy is seeking to hire a dynamic and proactive Project Administrator, to provide project-based support to the independent engineering (IE) project management staff in the performance of their due diligence activities. The Project Administrator will be responsible for supporting the technical due diligence review process for solar and storage projects in the US and Canada through financing and construction, supporting a broad internal team of project managers and other stakeholders, and communicating and resolving issues with clients and lenders/investors.

This position is based out of San Diego [CA], but also available in our Austin [TX], Chalfont [PA], New York [NY], Oakland [CA], and Portland [OR] offices.

What You’ll Do

  • Review of commercial and financial requirements for renewable energy and storage project financings/financial closings, including:
    • Verification of sponsor equity spend via review of invoices, proofs of payment, lien waivers, etc.
    • Review and certification of construction loan draw requests via review of associated documentation and budgets
    • Review and certification of construction completion reserves
    • Review of project budgets and flow of funds for reasonableness, within the IE scope of review
    • Final completion verification and confirmation of reasonableness of release of holdback/escrow/retainage
    • Manage/coordinate responses to ad hoc lender/investor requests
  • Editing of independent engineer certificates and reliance letters in accordance with legal guidelines; coordination with Lead Project Administrator on revisions as appropriate. Assist project management staff during negotiations with clients, to ensure only appropriate statements are made in certifications by DNV based on the scope of work
  • Preparation of IE documents for project milestone completion
  • General support and guidance for the internal IE staff on project financial closings, including high-level review of financing agreements to verify IE responsibilities, and monitoring of internal work streams for readiness for financing closing
  • Management, organization and distribution of project documentation related to technical due diligence, including filing and retrieving documents, researching files, data rooms, etc. in accordance with DNV document control system
  • Assist in teaching, training and assisting the Associate Project Managers in Project tasks
  • Support and assist in delivery of IE projects within allocated time and budget via other project-related technical tasks
  • Timecard coding to active Projects and submittal each week for accounting purposes
  • Peer review checked and approved deliverables to Lead Project Administrator, Project Managers and Team Leads for final approval
  • Communicate/liaise with a broad range of internal and external project stakeholders, including project managers, engineers and managers, other departments, clients, legal counsel, financial institutions, etc.

About you

What is Required

  • Minimum of bachelors degree in finance, accounting, or related degree
  • Minimum five years experience in renewable energy project finance in construction, finance, or project role
  • Advanced proficiency with MS Office products (e.g. Word, Excel), strong overall computer skills, and ability to learn other software tools
  • Familiarity with the analysis of general accounting submittals (construction draws, budgets, etc.)
  • Working understanding of renewable project development, construction, and financing, including common financing structures and agreements (i.e. debt, equity, tax equity, etc.) and associated mechanics
  • Strong analytical and solution-oriented thinking skills identifying technical risks and formulating solutions that allow development and financing/investment to proceed
  • Ability to work independently, take initiative, follow through and show attention to detail working with confidential information
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills to both internal and external stakeholders including working knowledge of legal concepts and terminology
  • Ability to travel for short periods on infrequent occasions (<5% on average)

What is Preferred

  • Paralegal/accounting experience in the context of renewable energy project finance
  • General familiarity with one or more of the following categories is preferred:
    • Accounting background including cash basis compared to accrual basis
    • Construction and procurement contracts, and overall scope
    • Renewable project procurement and construction timeline, scheduling, and milestone completion processes
    • Construction QA/QC documentation, including completion certifications

As required by the Pay Transparency laws in Colorado, New York City, California, Washington, and Connecticut, DNV provides a reasonable compensation range for roles that may be hired in those locations. Actual compensation is influenced by a wide array of factors, including but not limited to skill set, level of experience, and specific office location. For the states of Colorado, New York City, NY, California, Washington, and Connecticut only, the range of starting pay for this role is $90,000 – $140,000 USD.
