HDR is seeking a strategic-minded Power Environmental Sciences and Planning (ES&P) Practice Leader to partner with our clients to sculpt their strategies around the evolution of their power infrastructure for the next generation. Primary Responsibilities The Power ES&P Practice Leader is a global role and part of the overall Power leadership team at HDR. The primary responsibilities of this role include: Develop strategy, set goals and drive results for HDR’s market position in the power environmental sciences, planning and regulatory practice. These actions are achieved through HDR’s matrix structure in partnership with peer practice and technical leaders in power delivery, renewable generation, hydropower, thermal generation, and grid modernization. Works with technical leads to understand HDR’s market position and strives to develop strategies and partnerships with business development leads to foster growth globally. Collaborate with business group managers, regional business development leaders, business lines and peer practice and technical leads, to identify potential Power ES&P opportunities. Represent HDR as our power ES&P lead in the industry including industry conferences and organizations. Follows relevant changes to regulations that impact power clients and works with market sector leadership to strategize and communicate how HDR can assist clients with those changes. Nurture and develop relationships with clients to understand the challenges facing them as they map out their future in the environmental sciences, planning, and regulatory spaces. Partner with the Resources Business Group ES&P Director to create a cohesive community of practice across multiple offices and environmental disciplines. Establish and drive objectives that support the HDR annual and the five-year strategic plans for the power business. This includes client development, strategic recruitment initiatives and client satisfaction. Supporting staff development. Working with the Resources Business Group ES&P Director assess HDR’s current ES&P staff and partner with leadership to position HDR’s talent to match the needs of the future through leadership development programs. Participate in power market sector efforts such as strategic/annual planning initiatives, business development, and internal leadership collaboration activities to maximize client satisfaction and HDR success. Partner with HDR Area business group managers, business group ES&P director, regional business development leaders, and Global Environmental Director to implement strong staffing and financial strategies. Engage with HDR’s leaders in Sustainability and Resiliency, Strategic Communications, and Data Solutions to collaborate on initiatives and bring full breadth of HDR’s capabilities to our clients. Serve as principal project manager on select projects and an advisor to junior staff. This role requires travel for internal company meetings, industry conference attendance, and client liaisons. Qualifications Required Qualifications 10 year strategic leadership experience in environmental permitting/planning, and related fields, focused on developing and leading teams and providing solutions for the development of complex EIS planning and supporting documents for power infrastructure projects. 5 years focus on providing diverse power solutions to the industry. Strong brand recognition in the power industry History developing and leading teams. Preferred Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in an environmental sciences, environmental planning, or related discipline Track record presenting at conferences and representing a company in the power industry.
