  • THIS IS A PART-TIME, 1099 INDEPENDENT CONTRACTOR ROLE. *****

E Source is looking for energetic, mission-focused, and experienced people who want to further apply their deep utility-industry expertise via E Source’s broad reach to the US and Canada utility industry. You will have a minimum of 15+ years’ experience with electric, gas or water utilities and are seeking a contract role that gives you flexibility in your schedule and continued engagement in the industry we love.

Specifically, You’ll Have To Have Worked Extensively With Utility Account Management And Or Key Accounts In The Following Capacities To Be Considered

  • Managed the overall relationship with large commercial and industrial customers including advising these businesses on energy programs and technologies
  • Building strategic partnerships with key accounts and advocating for the customer’s needs
  • Matching customers to the right utility programs to set and achieve their goals for usage, decarbonization and other measures
  • Solving customer problems related to supply chain issues

You’ll Also Know About, Understand, And Can Communicate

  • The energy needs of key accounts, including sector-specific considerations
  • Internal procedures and policies for key account managers and the structures of these departments
  • Issues account management teams face including staffing and retention, work-from-home policies, and training needs as well as using the right metrics to drive strong performance
  • What account managers need to deliver so that they can best serve their customers while also helping the utility meet its goals
  • What drives business customer satisfaction and ways utilities can improve customer satisfaction among this segment

Nice To Have

  • Understanding of small and midsize business needs and managing the utility relationship to fit their needs
  • Knowledge of economic development and new construction processes within utilities

Contractor expectations and job information

  • This is a flexible, part-time, remote, contract position where the workload will vary depending on E Source’s needs and contractors’ willingness to take on additional work. Estimated work is 3-20 hours/week depending on E Source needs.
  • You are paid a flat rate per quarter, which includes a detailed scope of work that will be provided during the interview process. Additionally, you’ll be paid an hourly rate for one-off or larger projects.
  • This is a 1099 independent contractor role.

What You’ll Do

  • Provide industry trends and expert perspective to our researchers, staff writers, and marketing team who can write up insights for our reports, blogs, webinars, and in-person events
  • Present or co-present research findings at virtual and in-person events as well as moderate discussions among E Source utility clients
  • Represent E Source as a subject-matter expert at E Source Forum and Leadership Councils, organizing at least one session at Forum
  • Act in an advisory capacity for service-related market research studies, including reviewing market research reports to make sure recommendations are relevant and actionable
  • Help respond to questions from our utility clients, providing up to two hours of research and writing
  • Occasionally assist our engagement team on advisory calls with our utility clients
  • Act as a supportive, collaborative member of the Customer Engagement Solutions team, including mentoring junior staff

What Will Make You a Good Fit

  • At least 15 years of utility or energy industry experience
  • Excellent writing, analytical, communication, presentation or public-speaking, and time management skills
  • Desire to share industry and account management best practices, stay on top industry changes and trends, share a deep understanding of how utility teams are structured, etc.
  • Willingness to share your expertise and experience with others who are learning the industry and subject matter, including E Source staff
  • Proficient with Microsoft Word and PowerPoint
