ABOUT THE ROLE

Responsible for coordinating, monitoring and supervising the activities of one or more departments. Communicates goals to department employees and ensures that goals are achieved. Maximizes employee participation to achieve the desired team approach. Develops departmental personnel to enhance skills, improve responsiveness and promote business growth.
WHAT YOU’ll BE DOING
  • Ensures that employees are at work on time, actively engaged in assigned department activities and conforming to established internal and external safety/environmental/compliance regulations (i.e. DOT, OSHA).
  • Trains and manages production employees on the assigned shift or designated work site.
  • Provides immediate performance feedback as required to resolve employee conflicts, assisting in short-term resolution of emergency situations (e.g., injuries) or safety issues, attendance issues, conduct, etc.
  • Administers direct supervisory responsibilities for production personnel, including selection, hiring, training, performance evaluation, corrective action, promotional recommendations and work schedules.
  • Responsible for scheduling all departmental meetings and participating in and/or facilitating meetings.
  • Ensures that time and attendance for assigned employees is accurate in data collection system.
  • Works with other Supervisors and Group Leaders to ensure that departmental goals are achieved.
  • Performs resource planning for forecasted activity.
  • Studies production schedules and estimates worker-hour requirements for completion of assignments.
  • Coordinates and executes established activities of department(s) to ensure that goals are met.
  • Erroneous decisions or failure to achieve results will cause delays in schedules.
  • Works with various support functions to resolve production problems and assists in troubleshooting.
  • Provides feedback to Maintenance on equipment operation and production effectiveness.
  • Recommends and/or implements various production processes and programs.
  • Collaborates with other Supervisors to ensure customer goals are established and achieved, optimal utilization of site resources and alignment in performance criteria, job descriptions and application of policies.
  • Responsible for completing status reports pertaining to production Key Performance Indicators, employee performance/conduct and process flow.
  • Responsible for monitoring department efficiency and throughput, material use, quality, inventory, etc. or recommending action to improve.
  • Participates in budgetary recommendations on capital expenditures and direct/indirect labor.
  • May design and develop workflows which are efficient and effective in meeting financial and customer satisfaction requirements
  • Participates in projects with cross-functional teams to address business opportunities and focus on continuous process improvement, cost reduction, new machine installation/development, improvement of operational efficiency (e.g., creation reporting tools and the subsequent research/analysis), housekeeping, safety and quality initiatives.
WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR

Education: High school diploma or equivalent or or equivalent experience years of equivalent experience.

Additional Education Preferred: Bachelor’s degree

Field of Study Preferred: Construction Management or related field

Required Work Experience: 3-5 years preferred

  • Thorough understanding of production operations and machinery
  • Demonstrated supervisory and leadership skills
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Excellent time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines
  • Ability to trouble shoot and problem-solve
  • Ability to prioritize tasks and to delegate them when appropriate
  • Physical Requirements:
  • Must be able to lift 25 pounds at a time
  • Demonstrate a commitment to communicating, improving and adhering to health, safety and environmental policies in all work environments and areas. Promote a culture of safety and exhibit these behaviours.
  • Successful candidates must adhere to all safety protocols and proper use of Holcim approved Personal Protection Equipment (“PPE”), including but not limited to respirators. Subject to applicable law, employees that are required to wear respirators must be clean shaven where the respirator seal meets the face in order to pass the qualitative and quantitative fit tests.
