ABOUT THE ROLE
PURPOSE Holcim, a leading supplier of quality, construction materials in the United States has an immediate

opening for a full-time Scale Operator to support operations at our Sloan Quarry in Sloan, Nevada. The Scale

Operator position is primarily responsible for providing timely and accurate tickets to customers, while

ensuring the smooth flow of traffic, and safe shipment of materials to the customer. Secondly, provide the

customer with a professional level of service by upholding Holcim Standard Operating Procedures (SOP),

appearance, courteous communication, and focus on Key Performance Indicators (KPIs). In addition,

coordinating with sales and dispatcher to ensure proper ticketing of all aggregate material that crosses the

scale.
WHAT YOU’LL BE DOING
  • Understands respects and practices the Holcim Health & Safety Rules as a condition of employment.
  • Demonstrates a commitment to communicating, identifying and adhering to safety policies.
  • Provides a safe work environment for self and others at all times.
  • Authenticate orders (Overload/Underloads); weigh trucks and ticket outbound sales using APEX system.
  • Detail oriented; ability to produce accurate ticketing with minimal errors.
  • Efficiency; generate scale weight tickets in a timely manner keeping traffic moving.
  • Assists customers; learn/explain material to identify needed product and amount.
  • Execute reports, filing and daily sorting of tickets for billing purposes.
  • Data entry (should be familiar with Microsoft Word and Excel).
  • Trains and coaches other employees when needed.
RESULTS/ACCOUNTABILITIES
  • Effective and efficient operations, actions to prevent and detect fraud and protect Company resources.
  • Motivated, self-starter individual with a high level of integrity and reliability.
  • Confirm compliance with internal control procedures.
  • Communicate operational problems, follow established standards, and report violations of policy or law.
  • Assists in responsibilities for site-specific safety knowledge passed along to visitors.
  • Perform other duties as time permits or as assigned.
RELATIONSHIPS WITH OTHER JOBS
  • Constant interaction with dispatch and inside sales to avoid ticketing issues and delays.
  • Close interaction with internal/external haulers and customer base.

HOUSEKEEPING
  • Practices good housekeeping principles in all areas of work including the scale house and yard.
  • Ensure all work areas, including scale house, are clean, tidy and organized at all times.
QUALIFICATIONS / ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • High School Diploma or GED Equivalent
  • Basic math, reading, and writing skills are required (English)
  • Willing to work overtime and weekends as needed
  • Must be able to pass pre-employment physical/drug/alcohol test
  • Punctual and reliable; good attendance required
  • Must be safety-oriented and exhibit safe work habits
  • Able to perform basic math computations
  • Knowledge of products, industry terminology
  • Good communication skills verbal and listening
  • Must be computer literate and able to demonstrate competency in Microsoft Word, Excel and
PowerPoint.
  • Demonstrate a commitment to communicating, improving and adhering to health, safety and
environmental policies in all work environments and areas. Promote a culture of safety and exhibit

these behaviors.
  • Successful candidates must adhere to all safety protocols and proper use of Holcim approved
Personal Protection Equipment (“PPE”), including but not limited to respirators. Subject to applicable

law, employees that are required to wear respirators must be clean shaven where the respirator seal

meets the face in order to pass the qualitative and quantitative fit tests.
