EcoMetric is a global consultancy specializing in energy efficiency, renewable energy, and distributed generation consulting services and products. Our clients include investor-owned, and publicly owned electric and natural gas utilities, state agencies, non-profit organizations, and large multinational corporations. EcoMetric is growing rapidly and provides high quality technical and strategic consulting services to influence the end-use customer’s energy consumption behaviors and choices.
 
We are seeking an Energy Engineer, preferably located in Maryland (ideally in the Baltimore area). This is a full-time, salaried position. It is a remote position with up to 50% travel.  
 
In this role, you will be a key member of our consulting team supporting energy efficiency programs in Maryland and the surrounding states. The Energy Engineer will be a key technical and field resource for the team, assessing the impact of energy efficiency programs and conducting onsite visits to commercial and industrial facilities. 
 
Responsibilities
<ul>
<li>Perform walk-through (onsite) and virtual inspections of commercial and industrial facilities – as part of evaluations, surveys, and research studies – for the purposes of: </li>
<li>Verifying installation of energy efficient equipment or systems </li>
<li>Collecting and documenting information and data </li>
<li>Interviewing facility owners and managers about the operation of equipment </li>
<li>Deploy temporary data logging or metering equipment </li>
<li>Perform energy and peak demand savings calculations for various energy efficiency measures, using standard and custom engineering tools, formulas and methodologies </li>
<li>Perform QA/QC activities, including conducting pre-and post-installation energy efficiency project inspections. </li>
<li>Provide technical assistance to both internal and external parties </li>
<li>Research and identify tools and resources to support program evaluation efforts </li>
<li>Maintain and be responsible for complete and reliable records of data, notes, findings, and photos from site inspections and analyses.  </li>
<li>Coordinate regularly with internal engineering staff and project managers </li>
<li>Review technical documentation associated with energy efficiency projects – application forms, invoices, specification sheets, spreadsheet calculations, etc. </li>
<li>Participate in regular meetings and conference calls with both internal and external parties </li>
<li>Domestic travel will be required in the New Jersey area (approximately 50% of the time with reliable transportation)  </li>
<li>Must be able to handle a wide work variety and work in a fast-paced environment </li>
<li>Support the development of written reports and slideshow presentations </li>
<li>Coordinate with colleagues to ensure proper organization of files, paperwork, and data entry  </li>
<li>Communicate professionally (oral and written) and promptly with customers, clients, contractors/trade allies and the team  </li>
<li>Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned </li>
</ul>
 
Qualifications
<ul>
<li>BS or BA Degree in Engineering, Sustainability or Environmental Science. Associate degree plus relevant experience will be considered  </li>
<li>2-5 years of professional experience with energy efficiency consultancy, sales, construction, lighting, HVAC, and/or as a field technician </li>
<li>Strong mathematical skills and competence with spreadsheet analyses </li>
<li>Strong verbal and written communications skills and the ability to articulate your ideas in a virtual working environment  </li>
<li>Excellent organizational skills </li>
<li>Experience coordinating various parties and accounting for multiple variables </li>
<li>Comfortable and experienced in speaking over the phone </li>
<li>Proficient with Microsoft Office products (specifically Outlook, Word, Excel, Teams, SharePoint) </li>
<li>Strong data entry skills in entering information in tracking systems/databases </li>
<li>Must be a detail-oriented, organized, self-starter, and have an ability to prioritize workload </li>
<li>Must have a valid driver’s license and access to a vehicle </li>
</ul>
 
Preferred Qualifications: 
<ul>
<li>Energy program implementation or evaluation experience </li>
<li>Previous project management experience </li>
<li>Experience in the energy efficiency field </li>
<li>Knowledge of statistical concepts </li>
</ul>
