About The Position

The Director, Asset Management will be responsible for managing P&L and commercial contracts of multiple renewables and energy storage assets.

Essential Functions And Responsibilities

Responsibilities include: profit maximization strategies for contracted assets as well as hedging and trading of the merchant assets, interacting with various stakeholders in the energy markets, coordinating across the organization to ensure successful onboarding of new assets, and implementing asset optimization strategies.

  • Develop and execute on the profit maximization strategies, including originating new power sale contracts with the customers and coordinating with traders and marketers to maximize the asset value.
  • Ensure compliance with power purchase agreements, project debt and tax equity financing covenants, and FERC & NERC reporting requirements.
  • Coordinate with engineering & construction and finance groups to ensure a seamless transition from construction to commercial operation of the assets.
  • Manage asset performance reviews, forecasting, budgeting, and reporting the profitability of the assets on a monthly basis. Prepare executive presentations as required.
  • Coordinate with technical teams to identify and implement asset improvement initiatives.
  • Monitor and analyze projects’ financial performance by tracking KPIs, expense and revenue variances, address variances, and offer recommendations for improvement.
  • Support regulatory and legislative initiatives in coordination with the trade groups and internal subject matter experts.
  • Support cross-functional teams in the resolution of material issues impacting the assets such as commercial disputes, warranty claims, environmental or regulatory violations, and tax matters.
  • Maintain close working relationships with partners, customers, financial institutions, regulatory agencies, and trade organizations.
  • Assist in the development of strategic business plans, mergers and acquisitions, restructurings, building relationships with off-takers, landowners, and local and state tax jurisdictions.

Required Skills And Qualifications

  • Knowledge of various commercial structures in the power sector including power purchase agreements, tolls, various hedging structures, and merchant positions.
  • Familiarity with project finance, tax equity and capital structures.
  • Knowledge of and the ability to apply competitive business practices in daily work activities and decision making.
  • Ability to interact and communicate well with individuals in all areas of the company and outside stakeholders.
  • Competency with process improvement, relationship building, written and verbal communication, and critical thinking.
  • Maintain the highest standards of conduct and integrity in all dealings inside and outside the organization.
  • Ability to professionally manage highly confidential and sensitive information.
  • Excellent organizational skills with attention to detail, accuracy, and timeliness.
  • Ability to work well under pressure with multiple competing deadlines.
  • Demonstrated advanced knowledge of Excel, Word, Power Point, and various other business applications.

Education

  • Bachelor’s degree in finance, engineering, or business
  • MBA, CPA, or CFA preferred

Nice To Haves

  • A minimum 5 years of experience managing P&L of generation assets.
  • Experience launching a new asset management group is highly desired.
  • Previous experience within the renewable energy industry (solar and storage preferred).
  • Knowledge of various competitive and non-ISO markets is required.
  • Demonstrated ability to be self-motivated and perform job tasks independently in an unstructured environment with limited direction.
  • Ability to identify, balance and resolve legal and commercial issues.
  • Comfortable in a fast-paced, growing company.
  • Detail-oriented and capable of driving multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Strong interpersonal skills, professionalism, and ability to work closely with cross-functional teams

The typical US base salary range for this full-time position is listed below (plus bonus, equity, and benefits). Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training. Pay Range

$150,000—$180,000 USD
