Responsibilities
- Support the BOM cost process to reduce the direct material cost working with Engineering, Purchasing and Manufacturing.
- Establish technical and commercial ideas review processes, drive the implementation of these ideas with the different responsible teams.
- Drive implementation of cost reduction ideas to the different company areas, to ensure best in class cost (Benchmarks). minimize Total Cost of Ownership (TCO) by monitoring and analyzing cost drivers, trade-offs between cost, volume, and quality and market conditions.
- Track long-term cost savings ideas generation process, considering both strategic and tactical needs.
- Build cost structure for product commodities including but not limited to Wire Harness, Thermal Lines, Plastic Parts, Metallics components, etc.
- Benchmark the cost structure against industry recognized models built by national research labs as well as major competitors.
- Benchmark suppliers cost structure working with the Purchasing Team members.
- Assess risks posed to the organization because of poor supplier performance and develop contingency plans to mitigate risk to the supply chain.
- Improve operational control by analyzing price variance, excess and obsolete material, consigned material and create procedures to minimize liability and improve operational controls.
- Support supply chain efforts on achieving a cost-effective supplier base.
Qualifications
- Master’s degree in business administration, Economics, Supply Chain, Engineering (preferable); at least 12 months of experience as a purchasing agent or closely related occupation.
- BOM Cost structure, Reduction activities between Engineering, Purchasing and Manufacturing metrics using analytical tools such as MS Excel, Access and Visual Basic.
- Experience with Apriori Software a plus.
- Experience working with the commodities specified in this job description.
- Travel required to visit suppliers and for attending work-related conferences (estimated to be between 0-25% of work time)
