SOLV Energy is an engineering, procurement, construction (EPC) and solar services provider for utility solar, high voltage substation and energy storage markets across North America. Job Description Summary: The Procurement Contracts Specialist – Civil + Structural will be responsible for soliciting, creating, preparing, examining, analyzing, negotiating, and revising contracts that involve the purchase or sale of electrical goods or services such as equipment, materials, supplies, or products. Primary responsibilities include coordinating with multiple internal parties and outside vendors to collect information, combine documents, and create multiple types of contracts. Preference will be given to a background in photovoltaic design, purchasing, or installation, strong attention to detail, previous experience managing contracts, familiarity with general contract terms, and the ability to read and understand electrical drawings.

Position Responsibilities and Duties:

  • Solicit, negotiate and prepare contracts that involve the purchase of PV goods and services to meet project design and deadlines
  • Consider price, quality, availability, reliability, and technical support when choosing suppliers and materials
  • Create contract scope and negotiate items purchased, terms and conditions, and revisions
  • Collaborate with the business development, engineering, accounting, construction, and legal departments regularly to create contract scope
  • Create files for each contract which will include original contract, all correspondence, changes/deviations, amendments, clarifications, delivery and payment schedules
  • Prepare and disseminate information to appropriate employees regarding contract scope
  • Provide contract scope summaries and ensure contract execution in accordance with company policy
  • Have a working technical knowledge of the goods or services to be purchased
  • Recognize variations between design iterations and highlight these changes to vendor partners and our internal estimating team
  • Coordinate with engineering to ensure deliverables are aligned with contract deadlines and material deliveries
  • Communicate closely with vendors to track global supply chain and obstacles impacting the PV market and report internally to identify pricing and schedule challenges
  • Analyze multiple design solutions to determine cost analysis

Minimum Skills or Experience Requirements:

  • Bachelors degree in Civil Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Construction Management or related field preferred
  • Three years of office or field experience in the PV field, or equivalent
  • Ability to understand structural design and components, their purpose and use
  • Strong working knowledge of civil, structural, and geotechnical design
  • General understanding of electrical concepts preferred
  • Ability to keyboard 50-60 wpm accurately
  • Word processing and/or data entry skills
  • Proficient in English verbal communication skills, including professional telephone manner
  • Ability to make administrative/procedural decisions and judgments
  • Ability to create, compose, and edit written materials
  • Reliability, dependability and flexibility
  • General understanding of construction scheduling
  • General understanding of construction cost estimates
  • Proficient in Microsoft Teams & Dynamics
  • Detailed – ability to demonstrate patience and determination to generate consistently exceptional and standardized work product without errors
  • Strong analytical skills – ability to analyze available options of price, quality, service, and delivery certainty
  • Organization skills – strong organization skills to create and manage multiple document scopes concurrently while maintaining accuracy
  • Time management – ability to prioritize multiple tasks to ensure most critical deadlines are met
  • Teamwork – ability to work closely with other departments and external partners while maintaining a professional and helpful demeanor
  • Communication skills – ability to build relationships by effectively communicating with supervisors, co-workers, and external partners
  • Computer knowledge – Proficient, if not advanced, in Word, Excel, pdf modification, and Outlook
  • Familiarity with accounting procedures and legal terms
  • Excellent writing skills
  • Ability to work with varying seniority levels, including staff, managers and external partners
  • Sense of urgency – ability to stress urgency for internal and external partners to meet deadlines
  • Problem Solver – Ability to think of creative solutions to reduce cost and/or meet schedule
  • Ability to review and interpret flood and scour maps
  • Communicate with field teams to coordinate field pile inventory
  • Communicate with suppliers on material forecasting and delivery schedule requirements
  • Ability to travel as needed

Compensation Range:

$60,632.00 – $90,833.60
