Job Description
NREL’s Grid Planning and Analysis center (GPAC) is seeking a driven, detail-oriented, and enthusiastic full-time Product Manager in the Capacity Expansion and Electricity Markets group. The primary responsibility of this role is to provide product management for the Regional Energy Deployment System (ReEDS) model. The ReEDS model is a large-scale optimization model used to inform a wide range of electricity sector research questions. These include clean energy policy, renewable energy integration, technology innovation, and other forward-looking generation and transmission infrastructure issues. The model simulates the evolution of the bulk power system—generation and transmission—from the present day through 2050 or later. Please see www.nrel.gov/analysis/reeds
We are looking for an individual who is comfortable working with multiple technical staff to coordinate and oversee the development, distribution, and release of product updates and features, as well as ensuring that the product meets business objectives. The ideal candidate will have experience in optimization software, strong communication and organizational skills, and will thrive on problem solving in real-time.
The Product Manager will work on the ReEDS team to define the product roadmap, prioritize features, and drive the product development process. They also conduct requirement specifications and analyze customer feedback to identify opportunities for improvements and new features. The Product Manager will work collectively with senior modelers, the ReEDS leads and more senior-level staff to conduct planning, coordinating, implementing, and assessing product needs according to project objectives and deadlines.

Basic Qualifications
Relevant Master’s Degree or equivalent relevant education/experience. Or, relevant Bachelor’s Degree and 2 or more years of experience or equivalent relevant education/experience. Complete understanding and application of project management principles, concepts, practices and standards. Full knowledge of technical field and related disciplines. Very good interpersonal, conflict resolution, teaming and communication skills.

Annual Salary Range (based on full-time 40 hours per week)
Job Profile: Project Manager II / Annual Salary Range: $71,300 – $117,600
