TPI is owned by Arkansas Electric Cooperatives, Inc. and was created to serve our members who had a desire to offer community solar to their members. TPI was organized in 2014 to service members and neighboring states quickly learned of our program. TPI is now one of the most qualified renewable energy companies in the nation with more utility scale projects than any Arkansas based company.

Summary/Purpose

The Safety Coordinator’s goal is to provide a safe workplace through the continuous improvement and effective administration of TPI’s safety program, and ensuring compliance with OSHA, company policy, and other relevant regulations.

Typical Duties And Responsibilities

  • Identify potential hazards, conduct risk assessments, and implement preventative measures.
  • Conduct thorough investigations into policy violations, accidents, and near misses, and prepare detailed reports for appropriate management.
  • Lead safety committee meetings.
  • Oversee compliance of matters such as pre-job safety briefings for internal staff and external contractors.
  • Perform on-site visits for all field operations.
  • Ensure all staff are equipped with appropriate PPE.
  • Develop and perform safety training, including but not limited to forklift, CPR, first aid, etc.
  • Maintain safety records, including but not limited to incident reports and safety training materials.
  • Continuously monitor and keep up to date with safety-related topics and regulations to guarantee ongoing compliance.
  • Assist appropriate management in developing safety policies and procedures.

Qualifications

Preferred Education, Certification(s) & Experience

  • High school diploma plus 5 years’ related experience and/or training.
  • Certified Safety Professional (CSP) or Associate Safety Professional (ASP)

Required Certification(s)

  • Construction Health and Safety Technician (CHST) or higher designation – to be obtained in the first 3.5 years.
  • OSHA 30-hour – to be obtained in the first 6 months.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

  • Excellent written and oral communication and organizational skills.
  • Excellent knowledge of regulations surrounding safety.
  • Ability to work with sensitive information and maintain strict confidentiality.
  • Extremely detailed, analytical and accuracy oriented.
  • Maintain high ethical standards.
  • Strong interpersonal skills as well as strategic and creative thinking.
  • Proficient computer skills.

Supervisory Responsibilities

None currently.

Physical Demands/Working Conditions

  • Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
  • Must be able to lift at least 15 pounds at times.
  • Overnight travel away from home 50% of the time.
  • Ability to sit and/or drive for extended period of time.
