As Senior Strategy & Planning Analyst, you will help shape the strategy for Olefins and/or Polyolefins in the Americas (OPAM) region. Reporting to the Sr. Manager Strategy & Planning OPAM, you will be responsible for providing business units, functional units and senior management with the relevant analysis necessary to understand and improve performance. The incumbent serves as the focal point for preparing the long range plan, defining and evaluating strategic opportunities and risks, and tracking performance improvement progress. You will conduct evaluations and make recommendations that support Business unit strategy, marketing, commercial, and capital decisions.

A Day In The Life:

Coordinates and supports the various stages of planning and decision making processes including the development of Strategic Business Analyses and Natural Business Unit Strategy; Execution Plans; market and other business inputs into the Long Range Plan and Budget and Business Performance Management. As Strategy & Planning Analyst, you will provide Olefins & Polymers Americas senior business management with strategic, market, industry, economic and technology analyses necessary to understand and improve business performance. Other activities include evaluating and preparing recommendations and presentations related to commercial opportunities, market/product/customer/plant profitability, strategic marketing and sourcing decisions, capital projects, revenue growth/cost reduction, and industry data compilation/interpretation/analysis. The position requires interaction with various functional groups throughout the organization including Business Finance, Strategic Planning & Transactions, Manufacturing, Supply Chain, NetZero, and with external consultants.

  • Meet Long-Range Planning (LRP) milestones – review and update process and strategies for LRP, support Business in preparing 10-year financial plan, contribute to preparation of corporate LRP premises.
  • Maintain intelligence on market, supply/demand, trade flows, competitor profiles, segment mapping, cost curves benchmarks.
  • Evaluate profit generating capital project opportunities as they arise – support Business Leaders in pursuing project opportunities related to new investments;
  • Support large capital projects in coordination with our Strategic Planning & Transactions and Global Projects groups for project development, evaluation, and execution.
  • Support Business Directors and Senior Management in preparing monthly and quarterly business review reports, Quarterly Earnings documents, and presentations for Executive Committee and Board meetings.
  • Contribute to the digitalization of the Strategy & Planning platform.

Value You Bring:

  • Undergraduate degree in Engineering or Business/Finance with an MBA preferred.
  • Minimum seven years of relevant chemical industry experience preferred.
  • Strong analytical, evaluation, and judgment skills demonstrated ability to handle complex, and often ambiguous analytical and evaluation assignments, including development of models used across the organization.
  • Ability to translate complex data into actionable insights and strategic recommendations.
  • Thorough understanding of corporate finance, financial modeling and analytical tools (Internal Rate of Return (IRR), Net Present Value (NPV), payback, Economic Value Added (EVA), etc.).
  • Excellent verbal, written and presentation skills consistent with a client group that includes Senior Managers & Executives.
  • Ability to identify opportunities for improvement including in tools, reports, and processes.
  • Advanced PC skills, including spreadsheets, database, graphics, statistical forecasting and modeling. Good information technology skills needed to access company data.
  • Interpersonal skills necessary to work effectively as a team member, and achieve results through the contributions of other people both within and outside of the immediate organization.
  • Preferred: experience with data visualization and dashboard development.
