The Senior Project Scheduler is responsible for all scheduling and planning requirements related to Direct Reduction Iron (DRI) industrial plant projects. DRI plant projects can vary in terms of size, type, complexity, and level of detail. The Senior Scheduler will lead and facilitate all activities related to schedule development and maintenance throughout the life of the project and will frequently interact with project team members including project managers project engineers, estimating, cost control specialists, disciplined engineers, purchasing, expediting, and accounting. This individual will have a complete understanding and proven experience with the application of principles, concepts, best practices and standards of industrial project scheduling and reporting.

Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Identify work scope, technical sequencing, and Work Breakdown Structure (WBS). This includes morethan 2500+ activities toschedule.
  • Develop and maintain project schedules depicting the engineering, procurement, construction, and commissioning project phases within P6.
  • Fully resource and cost load (labor, material & expenses) schedules within P6.
  • Prepare critical path, earned value and schedule risk analysis reports.
  • Communicate with various project team members.
  • Prepare and maintain project forecasts and status updates.
  • Conduct project performance analysis using earned value techniques.
  • Utilize standard look-ahead schedules to manage the engineering, procurement, construction, and commissioning phases of the project and identify early warning flags.
  • Prepare and provide schedule progress reports, trending charts and schedule analysis reports.
  • Analyzes cost performance indicators (labor, material & expenses) and schedule performance indicators (CPI and SPI) as required for monthly reporting.
  • Analyze internal/external change order requests for cost and schedule impacts.
  • Maintain record of scope changes, trends and variances that potentially affect schedule performance.
  • Analyze contractor schedules, verify schedule integrity, and evaluate logic and multiple float paths.
  • Facilitate project scheduling meetings and/or interactive planning meetings as required during project setup and during the project life cycle.
  • Meet regularly with project team members to ensure accurate and timely data updates are incorporated into the schedule.
  • Comply with Industry Standard scheduling best practices.

Skills/Abilities:

Required:

  • Minimum of six (6) years hands-on experience, preferably in a large-scale industrial engineering and construction environment utilizing Primavera P6 scheduling software.
  • A vast understanding of the industrial EPC process and along with the complex interdependencies necessary to build a logically driven schedule.
  • Ability to interface with all levels of Project Teams and Senior Management.
  • Experience with Resource-Loaded Schedules.
  • Primavera P6 (version 19+) experience a must.
  • Demonstrate the ability to track and illustrate changes in activity logic.
  • Demonstrate the ability to track and illustrate shifts in scheduled activity dates.
  • Demonstrate the ability to track and illustrate changes in float.
  • Demonstrate the ability to track and illustrate variances to commercial (including liquated damages) and critical project milestones.
  • Must be hungry (self-motivated and diligent); humble (emphasize team over self; readily shares success with others; not afraid to apologize when needed); and smart (good judgement and intuition around group dynamics; understands the impact of their words and actions).

Preferred:

  • Certification as a PSP and/or PMI-SP are strongly desired.

Education and Experience:

  • Engineering degree preferred or equivalent industry experience.
  • Superior knowledge and experience using Primavera P6 scheduling software.

Travel Requirements:

  • Willingness and ability to travel domestically and internationally as required (10-15%).

Physical Requirements:

  • Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
  • Ability to move around a project site, including climbing structures.
