GENERGAL CREW MEMBER

We are looking to add able-bodied crew members to join our expanding crews. This is a unique opportunity to be part of a team that makes a significant impact on the environment and promotes sustainable living. A Crew Member will work independently or in teams after being given instructions and will likely be working on a variety of projects during the week. RESPONSIBILITIES

As a General Crew Member, you will play a crucial role in our mission to super-insulate and retrofit old homes to achieve up to 90% energy reduction. Your primary responsibilities may include:

1. Building Envelope Improvements:

Assisting in the insulation of slabs and foundation walls.

Contributing to air sealing and moisture management efforts.

Installing formaldehyde-free insulation in existing walls, floors, ceilings, and roofs.

Participating in the replacement of doors and windows with energy-efficient models.

2. HVAC System Enhancements:

Aiding in the installation of high-efficiency mechanical equipment and heat pumps.

Supporting the implementation of alternative cooling solutions to conventional air conditioning.

Assisting in the proper venting of combustion appliances.

3. Plumbing and Lighting Upgrades:

Collaborating on the reconfiguration of plumbing to distribute hot water efficiently.

Helping to insulate hot water pipes to reduce energy loss.

Supporting the installation of energy-efficient lighting to increase natural daylighting.

4. Appliance and Energy Source Optimization:

Participating in the replacement of old appliances with energy-efficient models.

Assisting in the installation of renewable energy sources such as photovoltaic modules, solar hot water collectors, or wind turbines.

5. General Remodeling and Project Planning:

Working with the team on careful planning for extensive and invasive green remodels.

Assisting in the assessment of current energy use through utility bill analysis and testing methods like blower-door and duct-blaster testing.

Contributing to the management of moisture performance during energy improvements.

REQUIREMENTS

Previous experience in construction, remodeling, or similar fields is preferred but not required.

Basic knowledge of building systems and energy efficiency concepts is a plus.

Willingness to learn and adapt to new techniques and technologies in the energy retrofitting field.

Ability to work well in a team environment and follow instructions from project managers.

Physical fitness and stamina to handle physically demanding tasks on construction sites.

Previous insulation or light carpentry experience is preferred.

Comfortable in confined, sometimes cluttered conditions.

Comfortable on ladders or staging.

Must be able to pass a background check and drug test.

Valid drivers license preferred.

High school diploma or equivalent.

Reliable, on-time and hard-working.

Physical stamina and dexterity to navigate tight spaces.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $17.00 – $20.00 per hour

Expected hours: 40 per week
