Job Summary

Responsible for participating in the development and implementation of outreach and communication plans to advocate and gain support for PSEG Long Island NYISO/CLCPA initiatives to a wide range of external audiences. Primary audiences include local, county and select state elected officials as needed, in addition to business leaders, policymakers, civic associations, and influential members of the community. Support in documenting outreach and communication activities.

Engage stakeholders throughout the enterprise on these CLCPA projects. Advise internal stakeholders on the external implications and cost/benefits of decisions.

Participate in internal teams from Enterprise organizations to develop and implement plans and strategies that achieve milestones and goals while minimizing the disruptive impacts in communities. Assist in resolving escalated constituent issues and other external affairs matters that may arise.

Job Responsibilities

  • Support efforts to advocate before local and county public bodies and officials to gain support for PSEG LI positions and projects
  • Develop materials for public presentations before official government bodies and business forums to advocate for PSEG LI positions and project approval
  • Provide guidance and coordination with PSEG LI project managers, engineers, legal, regulatory and permitting associates to gain required public sector approvals
  • In partnership with Corporate Communications, develop materials to communicate with external stakeholders to garner support for PSEG projects and initiatives
  • The position requires availability 24/7 during storms and restoration

Job Specific Qualifications

Required

  • Bachelors Degree in Political Science, Communications, Public Affairs or related field with 5 years of related experience in government, government affairs or related field. In lieu of degree 10 years of experience in government, government affairs or a related field
  • Demonstrated customer relations skills and ability to work with the public
  • Experience in the fields of community relations public boards or committees elected or appointed government or public sector experience or large scale construction project experience
  • Must possess and maintain a valid US drivers license as extensive instate travel is required
  • Exceptional writing presentation and public speaking skills
  • Project planning and management
  • Experience writing and editing

Desired

  • Understanding of business processes and vernacular
  • Knowledge of the Energy or Utility business
  • Graduate degree in Business and/or Communications Advanced degree in political science, public policy, government relations, law or equivalent experience as an elected official, legislative aide, or government relations consultant
