PSE’s Generation & Natural Gas Storage team is looking for qualified candidates to fill an open CT Journey Worker position!

As a CT Journey Worker, you will, inspect, operate and maintain generation plant electrical and mechanical equipment, especially as it applies to combustion turbines, steam turbine and/or combined cycle generation facilities. This facility is located in the Mint Farm Industrial Park of Longview, WA about 40 miles north of Portland, Oregon.

The individual will be fulfilling the role in Operations or Maintenance as determined by the needs of the plant at the time of hiring.

Job Responsibilities

  • Construct, install, inspect, operate and maintain generation plant electrical and mechanical equipment, especially as it applies to combustion turbines, internal combustion engines, steam and/or combined cycle generation facilities
  • Drive and operate equipment. Perform similar and incidental duties as required
  • This position responds to plant emergencies and contains some irregular work schedules and overtime hours.
  • Required to qualify and progress from Outside Operator to Control Room Operator

Minimum Qualifications

  • Candidate must have completed a recognized combustion turbine apprenticeship program or its equivalent and be proficient in using the tools and equipment of the trade as related to combustion turbine work
  • Must have ability to communicate effectively with others. Must possess a valid drivers license
  • This position requires the employee to obtain and maintain a First Aid, CPR and AED Certificate, and lift truck certification
  • Employees must have a working knowledge and comply with all Company standards, policies, practices, procedures and State and Federal regulations as they pertain to the job
  • Less than 60 minute one way commute time to the facility

Desired Qualifications

  • Electrical Maintenance: Experienced in troubleshooting and correcting electrical maintenance problems, including switch gear, motors, breakers and plant wiring. Should be familiar with the usage of electronic test equipment and other test instruments used in identifying problems
  • Mechanical Maintenance: Experience in troubleshooting and correcting mechanical problems which include combustion turbines, steam turbines, heat recovery steam generators (HRSG), pumps, compressors, valves and various rotating equipment. Must be familiar with alignment, basic machining, rigging and equipment component inspection and repair
  • Instrumentation & Control: Experienced in troubleshooting I&C equipment and components. Must be able to operate the plant control equipment and components. Must be able to operate and troubleshoot the plant Distributed Control System (DCS) and related equipment. Completion of technical training in modern I&C work is desired
  • Operations: Experience in the safe and reliable start-up, operation and continuous monitoring of HRSGs, electric generators, steam distribution system, steam turbines, and auxiliary equipment. Must be able to monitor continuous control process, in both a control room environment and physical plant inspection, to insure the normal operation of the plant. Must be able make necessary equipment adjustments, log significant observations, record daily meter readings and maintain daily operating logs. Must also be able to understand basic chemistry and perform laboratory water analysis. Must possess well-developed oral and written communications skills
    • Required to qualify and progress from Outside Operator to Control Room Operator

Additional Information

The duties and responsibilities are generally performed in both indoor and outdoor environments. The position generally involves sitting, standing, walking, moderate to heavy lifting, moderate carrying, bending, reaching, kneeling, twisting, balancing and climbing, operation of light equipment, tools and machinery and operation of heavy equipment and machinery.

Performance of the position requires working in varied outdoor environments such as all weather conditions, all noise levels, hazardous conditions and on the full range of outdoor work surfaces. The use of protective clothing and safety devices is required.

May require driving of automobiles/vans/trucks.

The pay range for this position is $62.86 – $62.86, and this position is eligible for annual goals based incentive bonuses.
