What is the role

The successful candidate will be assigned to the Congo, West Virginia Lubricant Oil & Blending Plant Operations team to support and lead a variety of activities in delivering the production promise, including but not limited to troubleshooting and participation on problem solving teams, collaboration with engineering disciplines (Project and Operations), collaboration with Asset Production and Maintenance personnel, supporting and/or leading Root Cause Analysis, supporting maintenance functions, execution lead for projects up to $2 million, and navigating the many work processes required to successfully execute and implement a change. They may work closely with production operations, HSSE/Quality resources, and project front end engineering and construction resources to:

  • Support and deliver GOAL ZERO: Personal and Process Safety

  • Successfully execute and implement Capital Projects up to $2 million

  • Provide technical support to all phases of assigned projects or activities including but not limited to management of scheduling project execution activities, organizing permitting support, contractor management plans, safety plan development.

  • Provide on-site contractor management including but not limited to: planning contractor activities, facilitating business performance reviews, vetting contractors, ensuring HSSE compliance, Permit-to-Work support, and SIMOPs reviews.

  • Perform Management of Change reviews to ensure safe operation and design of equipment and related changes. Apply engineering technology to improve safety and environmental related issues.

  • Proactive in bringing improvements to support competitiveness (increase reliability, margin, energy efficiency) operational and/or capex business case justification.

  • Support Asset Integrity & Assurance, plus driving maintenance scope & competitiveness; must have strong partnership with the Maintenance, Process Engineering, and Production teams.

  • Ensure the operability / maintainability of all proposed facilities, based on defined criteria by carrying out suitable reviews.


What we need from you

  • Must have legal authorization to work in the US on a full-time basis

  • Bachelors degree required, preferably in Mechanical, Controls, or Electrical Engineering.

  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in lubricants, petrochemical, oil & gas, or related industry.

  • Certified Maintenance and Reliability Professional through SMRP is preferred.

  • Prior experience as an operations support engineer, field engineering, or in maintenance would be highly valued in this role.

  • Prior experience running capital projects is a plus.

  • Experience supporting maintenance activities such as Turnarounds is a plus.

  • Strong proven track record in troubleshooting, investigations, continuous improvement, and Root Cause Analysis.

  • Preferred Has driven sizeable change in an Asset to improve performance. Proven integration skills, working across organizations.

  • Experience in developing Proactive Technical Monitoring plans. Working knowledge of all Asset Management Systems

  • Knowledge of API, ASME, ISO, DEP standards for design, fabrication, repair, maintenance and inspection standards

  • Experience in tank asset management including API 653 inspection methodology is a plus. Knowledge level experience with Management of Change

  • Knowledge level experience with a stage-gate / phased delivery process preferable for capital projects

  • Experience in development / improvement of a work process and ways of working.

The base salary range for this position is $101, 000 – $151, 000 per year. Individual pay will be based on various factors, such as relevant work experience, education, certifications, skill level, seniority, and internal equity.

For regular full-time or regular part-time employees of the Company (participating companies as listed in the Summary Plan Description), insurance coverage options include medical, dental, vision coverage, life Insurance, Business Travel Accident Insurance, and Occupational Accidental Death Benefit programs. Employees also participate in a company pension plan and a 401(k) plan. Paid leave includes up to 6 weeks of paid vacation time, up to 11 paid holidays, and parental leave offering 16 weeks of paid leave to birthing mothers, and 8 weeks of paid leave for non-birthing parents.

Additionally, employees are eligible for disability leave for up to 52 weeks at 100% or 50% of base pay. Shell also offers other compensation such financial reimbursement for adoption, wellness, education, and personal learning expenses, and some roles are eligible for discretionary long-term incentives. For interns, eligible benefits include medical, dental, and vision coverage, life insurance, Business Travel Accident Insurance, and Occupational Accidental Death Benefit programs; participation in a 401(k) plan; and paid leave for up to 11 paid holidays.
