A Snapshot of Your Day

As a Manufacturing IT Support Specialist, you will be an important part of the local IT team that provides support for the Siemens Energy Fort Payne manufacturing facility. Day-to-day shop operations are dependent on a reliable IT environment and as a digital company, Siemens Energy continuously deploys new and improved IT systems. On a typical day, you might start with a meeting with colleagues around the world to learn about the latest upcoming IT changes, then meet with machine Operators to find out what IT issues they are facing and work to fix and resolve the problems hands-on. After lunch, you might work on a project team to roll-out new software used in the factory, perform proactive maintenance on IT systems, and make upgrades to the data center. As a business-critical support person to our 24×7 facility, you will sometimes receive calls to provide after-hours assistance.


How Youll Make an Impact

Siemens Energy Fort Payne is a 250,000 square foot manufacturing facility that produces high-quality components for Gas Turbines, Steam Turbines, and Generators for our customers in the Energy Industry. As a paperless shop, IT plays a critical role in the success of factory operations. You will make an impact by:

  • Keeping manufacturing running 24×7 while maintaining 70 shop floor PCs.
  • Monitoring and maintaining IT infrastructure and systems, including servers, networks, cabling, applications, and databases, to ensure efficient performance and uptime.
  • Participating in the planning and execution of IT projects, from requirements capturing to implementation and post-implementation support.
  • Conducting regular system audits and assessments to identify risks, opportunities for improvement, and ensure compliance with industry standards, cybersecurity requirements, and regulations.
  • Designing and delivering training programs for manufacturing employees on the use of IT systems and applications.
  • Be the IT Business Partner, a trusted advisor to all shop employees, supervisors and shop management.


What You Bring

  • Bachelors degree or equivalent with 3+ yrs. IT experience preferably within a manufacturing environment.
  • IT skills including networking, cybersecurity, and providing support for end-user applications and hardware, telephones, security cameras, and manufacturing devices.
  • Flexibility to be on-call after hours is required
  • Ability to communicate effectively with colleagues of all levels, from Senior Management to the Blue-Collar workforce.
  • Persistence to work on difficult problems until they are solved, following up and communicating along the way.
  • Ability to balance multiple tasks and challenging priorities.
  • Applicants must be legally authorized for employment in the United States without need for current or future employer-sponsored work authorization.


About the Team

As a global company, Siemens Energy has a large corporate IT organization supporting the companys success. The spear-tip of that IT organization is the team supporting our manufacturing environment. As a valued and respected member of that local IT team, you will share responsibility supporting the manufacturing environment with one other local teammate dedicated to shop floor IT support. Other members of the team include project managers, software developers, and administrators, all working with the shared mission to provide best-in-class service to our facility.
