Maintenance Specialist

JOB SUMMARY:

This position will report to the Plant McDonough Planning Team Leader and will be responsible for Planning and scheduling task including but not limited to, working closely with the Plant System Owners and Team Leaders to accomplish the following:

  • Detailed estimates of the cost and duration of purposed work prior to work order approval.
  • Ensure that all work is planned to the required level of detail and that all provisions have been made to enable work to be continuous from start to finish prior to being scheduled.
  • Acquire materials and services, through Maximo plans tab, that will be required for the completion of work orders assigned to their teams.
  • Directly manage all work orders in less than approved statuses for their assigned teams to ensure the highest level of estimating accuracy and minimum back log.
  • Maintain work packages for forced and maintenance outages for their assigned teams.
  • Manage daily craft schedules using Maximo Visual Assignment
  • Building and maintaining accurate outage schedules using Primavera and/or Microsoft Project
  • Responsible for ensuring compliance to fleet planning metrics such as, schedule compliance and critical PM compliance
  • Work with storeroom personnel to ensure that materials for planned work are staged ahead of time and eliminate the need for DTRs / pick tickets.
  • Have a willingness to challenge status quo, champion best practices and find ways to create efficiencies through process.

JOB REQUIREMENTS:

  • Must possess experience in the Operations and/or Maintenance of Electric Generating Plants or other similar heavy industrial facility – required.
  • Extensive experience utilizing Maximo, CiM and Primavera (P6)/Microsoft Project for planning and scheduling.
  • Experience in developing and executing effective maintenance strategy.
  • Outage/Project planning experience.
  • Proficient utilizing Microsoft Office applications; Outlook, Word, Excel, etc.
  • Budget experience – preferred.
  • Thorough understanding of plant equipment, systems, and operation to provide solutions to equipment problems that is cost effective and adequate to meet the intended needs.
  • Ability to analyze critical situations; determine competent solutions with implementation in a safe and effective manner.

JOB KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:

  • In-depth experience performing power plant maintenance work.
  • Knowledge of power plants and plant systems.
  • Ability to make decisions and demonstrate short/long term strategic planning skills.
  • Must have the ability to communicate and work effectively in teams with varied individuals (craft personnel and management).
  • Well organized and capable of handling multiple priories simultaneously
  • Self-motivation and demonstrated initiative are crucial for this position.
  • Must possess effective written and oral communications skills and exhibit Southern Style.
