Chemours is seeking a Research and Development Summer COOP to join our Thermal and Specialized Solutions team! This position will report directly to the Product Growth Manager.

The R&D Intern will join the product growth team based in The Chemours™ Discovery Hub, a newly constructed 320,000 ft2 world-class R&D and Application Development facility located in Newark, DE. In this role, the R&D Intern will provide product development support at the research and technical service laboratories for all product lines (e.g., Opteon™, Freon™) within the Thermal and Specialty Solutions Business. We harness next-generation, low-Global Warming Potential (GWP) technology to provide market driven innovations to customers in the areas of Refrigerants, Propellants, Fire Protection, Foam Blowing Agents used in various systems for building and construction segments, and Mobile and Stationary heating and cooling systems to name a few. This role will provide integral product development support for some of our most rapidly growing application segments in particular the Specialty Fluids for Thermal Management.

Location: Newark, DE

Hours: Regular full-time schedule of 40 hours per week

Term: 3 to 4 months assignment between May 2024 – August 2024

The responsibilities of the position include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Designing and preparing laboratory setup to develop product assessment tools within a research environment
  • Analyzing data independently, drawing statistically based conclusions and determining next steps
  • Designing and executing experiments to develop new methods
  • Interacting directly with senior technical staff
  • Following all company safety rules and regulations.
  • Self-managing time and resources to get results in the quickest and least costly fashion within limits dictated by maintaining safe operations

The Following Is Required For This Role

  • Enrollment at an accredited college or university as a sophomore or above at time of assignment
  • Pursuing an undergraduate degree in science/engineering (chemistry or chemical engineering)
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications
  • Good verbal and interpersonal skills

The Following Is Preferred For This Role

  • 3.0 GPA or above
  • Familiarity handling chemicals
  • Familiarity working with gases or vacuum systems
