2nd Shift (3:30 pm to 2:00 am; M-Th)
Starting Wage $24.39/hr + $1 shift differential
The Slitter/Decoiler Operator is an Individual Contributor responsible for the setup and operation of various pieces of equipment, including a Slitter and Decoiler machine, to level, edge trim and cut-to-length steel sheets from coil.

Essential Functions
  • Responsible for programming and operating the PLC controlled leveling and shearing machines
  • Responsible for calibration and set-up of equipment
  • Observe operation and periodically verify conformance of machined work to process sheet, specifications and blueprint data
  • Unband steel coil to feed through the cut-to-length machine
  • Load steel coil via the coil cart
  • Maintain the cleanliness of work area including all equipment and machinery
  • Use overhead crane, forklift and/or conveyor to load/unload material
  • Ability to wear all required personal protective equipment (PPE) and work both in a non-temperature controlled environment and outdoors
  • Other duties as required and/or assigned
Important Details about the Role
  • Setup, operate, and perform general maintenance of equipment without difficulty
  • Make mathematical calculations in preparing product or setting up the machinery
  • Read and decipher blue prints and flat sheets without assistance
  • The employee must maintain a safe and productive work environment producing a quality product which is shipped complete and on time to satisfy the needs of the customer
  • The employee has a direct impact on safety, quality, productivity, and delivery
  • This position reports to the Production Supervisor
Required Qualifications of Every Candidate (Education, Experience, Knowledge, Skills and Abilities)
  • The ability to calculate simple mathematics and interpret shop drawings
  • The ability to operate overhead cranes, forklifts and basic welding equipment
  • The ability to read a tape measure
  • The ability to recognize and solve practical problems or issues
  • The ability to work in a team environment with a diverse group of people
  • The ability to pay attention to detail and follow work instructions
  • The ability to meet production, safety, and quality standards in a high-paced working environment
  • The ability to lift up to 50 pounds, with most frequent lift up to 20 pounds
  • Wear required personal protective equipment and follow facility safety regulations
  • Maintain a safe and productive working environment
Highly Qualified Candidates Will Also Possess These Qualifications
  • High School Diploma or GED equivalent
  • 1 year of previous experience in a heavy manufacturing setting
  • 1 year of previous experience with overhead crane operations
  • The ability to pay attention to detail and follow work instructions
  • The ability to communicate and interact with coworkers in a positive manner
  • Must have a high awareness for safety at all times.
  • Must be a person of passion and integrity who has the drive to excel and deliver exceptional results.
