Position Specific Description

The Assistant Project Manager (APM) will report to the Project Manager to assist with all the tasks to make a project successful. The APM’s responsibilities include Reporting, Material tracking, Construction Management, Quality, and Safety.

Essential Job Functions

  • Draft Alignment Meeting slide deck for Project Manager/Construction Manager review
  • Take meeting minutes and distribute to the meeting team with bullet points of what was discussed as well as action items from the meeting
  • Schedule meetings between NextEra Energy Resources & Contractors as needed
  • Track RFI process with the EOR – provide updates on aging requests
  • Help Track Change Orders and ensure that CMR Reports are being updated & provided to Project Controls weekly
  • Draft AWS for Project Manager’s submittal to Project Controls
  • Ensure payments are made to vendors / contractors for out-of-scope work (i.e., executed AWS).
  • Gather Turnover information for Project Turnover ex. warranties, As-builts, etc.
  • Be point of contact for material deliveries and ensure truck routes and delivery procedures are being followed
  • Ensure that Panel delivery information is being uploaded to Unifier
  • Ensure that Progress Tracking information is accurate and being uploaded to Power BI (If we roll this out)
  • Assist contractors with Target Import Sheets (if we use Power BI)
  • Assist contractors with Unifier access / basic knowledge
  • Manage fleet vehicles for NextEra Energy Resources Construction Managers / Project Managers (order new, update registration / insurance)
  • Coordinate with Drone team to schedule drone flights
  • General managerial assistance to PM
  • Assist with Weekly Reporting duties to ensure Management is aware of project status, constraints and risks

  • Learn Stormwater Pollution Prevention Plan and Storm water regulations and procedures
  • Learn about crew sizes of different contractors and production rates
  • Understand the project schedule and help keep it up to date
  • Learn proper racking installation and understand different installation manuals
  • Learn the electrical processes and proper wire management
  • Learn the process of interconnecting the plant to the utility
  • Learn the aspects of the construction contract
  • Learn how to read and interpret structural, electrical, and civil drawings
  • Learn the steps for hand-off from pre-construction to construction

Knowledge, Skills And Abilities

  • Ability to travel to project sites. Travel expectations are 25% and could increase depending on build cycle and needs
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, and Outlook)
  • Oracle Unifier
  • Basic understanding of safety, construction, commissioning, and testing
  • Good communication skills to deal with owners, subcontractors, and employees
  • Possess a solid understanding of tracking job progress, costing and formal reporting
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks effectively without supervision
  • Ability to communicate affectively via email and conference call (Teams/Webex)

Job Overview

This position assists in the overall management of assigned projects, to ensure compliance within required budgetary, scheduling, and safety goals. Employees in this role support construction work performed by contractors and/or vendors at the project site.

Job Duties & Responsibilities

  • Assesses productivity, schedule compliance, work quality, and safety performance on assigned projects
  • Participates in walk downs of planned work, validates acceptance of completed work to design requirements, and reviews contractor payment requests
  • Verifies constructability, ensures proper resource allocation, assesses field status, and resolves issues as needed
  • Coordinates project activities with vendors, suppliers, regulatory agencies, local community officials and the company
  • Assists in scope control, budget oversight, resolution of technical issues, performance reporting, scheduling, and work-in-pr
